Mariah Carey's Abusive Ex-Husband Takes Credit For Her Success

In a new autobiography...
The New York Post reports that Mariah Carey's abusive ex-husband Tommy Mottola has taken credit for her success in a new autobiography. The two were married in 1993 and divorced in 1997. The book, Hitmaker, will be out on January 15.
On first hearing her music while driving in his car after a party: "An unbelievable energy was running though me screaming, ‘Turn the car around! That may be the best voice you've ever heard in your life!'"
On Carey's success: "I can only now wonder about the expression on my therapist's face when . . . she saw Mariah thank God for that first Grammy, and then Tommy Mottola for believing in her. She could no longer call me delusional."
On taking credit for her success: "If it seemed like I was controlling, I apologize. Was I obsessive? Yes. But that was also part of the reason for her success. My feeling was that there'd be plenty of time for Mariah to celebrate just a little ways down the road. I'm not talking 10 years, just a few."
