UPDATE: Perez Hilton has now posted a clip from Mariah Carey's interview on Nightline.
Original: In an interview with Barbara Walters on Nightline last night (via E! News), Mariah Carey said that Nicki Minaj created an unsafe working environment on American Idol.
She said: "It felt like an unsafe work environment."
She was referencing the time that she claimed Minaj said she would "shoot that bitch" if she had a gun. Minaj previously denied this and said: "Anytime anybody's reeling threats at somebody, you know, it's not appropriate. I'm a professional. I'm not used to that type of environment."
Carey said that hiring more security felt like "the appropriate thing to do." She added: "Sitting there on the road with two babies, I'm not going to take any chances."
She still thinks that American Idol will be a good job for her, even with Minaj still present. She said: "For all the drama, I hope it helps the show. I think it's a classic, classy show and it didn't need this. For me, ultimately, this is about the kids, the contestants. I've been blessed to live my dream more than half my life, so I want help give that back to someone else."
