Pink And Carly Rae Jepsen Dominate Australia's Year-End Charts
Posted by Joseph Lee on 01.09.2013

Billboard reports that Pink and Carly Rae Jepsen have dominated Australia's year-end sales charts, published by trade body ARIA. Pink had the best-selling album for the second time in three years.

Her five times platinum album The Truth About Love follows her 2010 topping album with Greatest Hits...So Far. In 2009 and 2008, her album Funhouse was the runner-up. Her album I'm Not Dead hit #2 in 2007 and 2006. Much of her success is due to her touring in Australia. She played 58 arena shows in 2009 and her upcoming tour has 42 dates so far, with 400,000 tickets sold.

One Direction is at #2 on the albums chart with Up All Night. Adele's 21, the best selling album of 2011, is at #3 on this year's chart. The rest of the top five include Michael Buble's Christmas and Ed Sheeran's +. You can find the full albums chart here.

Australian acts made up 27 of the top 100 selling albums, up from 22 in 2011 but down from 30 in 2010. The Voice winner Karise Eden is the best performer, with #6 thanks to My Journey.

Meanwhile, on the singles chart, Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" and PSY's "Gangnam Style" are the top two. Australian singer Guy Sebastian is at #3 with "Battle Scars", one of only 11 Australian songs on the chart, up from 9 in 2011 but down from 14 in 2010. The rest of the top five includes Flo Rida's "Whistle" and "Wild Ones". You can find the singles chart here.

ARIA compiled its year-end charts using sales data accumulated from charts between Jan. 9, 2012 and Jan. 7 2013, inclusively.
