Rapper Chief Keef has been sentenced to sixty days in juvenile detention for violating probation on a gun conviction. Billboard reports that the seventeen year-old Keef was sentenced in a Chicago courtroom after the judge ruled that he had disregarded court orders on several occasions, including a visit to a New York gun range that was filmed by music website Pitchfork.
Keef appealed to the judge before the ruling, saying, "I'm sorry about all the wrong I have done. I am a very good-hearted person." He has also been made a ward of the state; he was previously in the custody of his uncle and grandmother.
The prosecution tried to use the violent lyrics in a Keef track "Love Sosa" during the sentencing. Keef's lawyer defended the song as part of his rap persona.
