Alicia Keys To Sing National Anthem At Super Bowl
Posted by Joseph Lee on 01.18.2013

The Associated Press (via Billboard) reports that Alicia Keys will perform the national anthem at the Super Bowl on February 3 in New Orleans

A source revealed the information while requesting to be anonymous because the NFL hasn't announced who will sing the anthem yet. Keys released her fifth album Girl on Fire late last year.

The Super Bowl teams will be decided on Sunday when the San Francisco 49ers meet the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship game and the Baltimore Ravens take on the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game.

Beyonce will perform at the halftime show, as it was announced in October. She sang the national anthem at the 2004 Super Bowl in her hometown of Houston. Others to perform the anthem include Kelly Clarkson last year, as well as Whitney Houston, Billy Joel, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond and Mariah Carey.

At the 2011 Super Bowl between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers in Dallas, Christina Aguilera famously messed up a line while singing the song. She was supposed to sing "O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming," but instead repeated a previous line, which drew criticism from Twitter.
