UPDATED: Beyonce Lip-Synched Her National Anthem Performance At Inauguration

UPDATE: Billboard has an update to the Beyonce story in which Captain Gregory Wolf of the Marine Corps, a spokesperson for the group, has backpeddled some from an earlier statement that Beyonce lip-synched her national anthem performance yesterday.
He said: "Regarding Ms. Knowles-Carter's vocal performance, no one in the Marine Band is in a position to assess whether it was live or pre-recorded."
Original: The New York Post reports that Beyonce lip-synched her performance of the national anthem at the inauguration ceremony yesterday.
A representative for the United States Marine Band, Kristin DuBois, said: "All music is pre-recorded for the ceremony because there are so many eventualities and conditions that day. We performed, live, the band. But we received last-minute word that Beyonce was going to use the pre-recorded vocal track. Those were the instructions we were given. We don't know what the (sic) reason why."
At one point, Beyonce dramatically removed her earpiece, which makes no sense now that we know she wasn't actually making any noise.
In case you were wondering, a representative for Kelly Clarkson said that she did sing live.
