Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Get #1 On Billboard Hot 100

Billboard reports that Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have finally hit #1 on the Hot 100 with "Thrift Shop", featuring Wanz, climbing up from #2. Meanwhile, Justin Timberlake's "Suit & Tie" climbs 84-4 after the first full week of airplay.

Macklemore and Lewis' album The Heist hit the Billboard 200 at #2 on October 200, and this song now has the top Digital Gainer award for the second consecutive week. It is also #1 on Digital Songs, Steaming Songs (1.68 million steams, up 16%) and On-Demand Songs (for the third week with 1.54 million on-demand streams, up 16%). It has passed the record for most weekly on-demand streams since the creation of the list in March. The survey includes data from subscription services Spotify, Rdio, Muve Music, Slacker, Rhapsody and Xbox Music.) "Thrift" passed the previous holder, Goyte's "Somebody That I Used To Know" (1.41 million on-demand streams the week of May 5, 2012).

This is also the first debut Hot 100 #1 for a rap act since Wiz Khalifa's "Black and Yellow" on February 19, 2011. It is on top of the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a second week and Rap Songs for a third. They are the first duo to get a #1 on the Hot 100 with its first entry since Los Del Rio's "Macarena" was on top for 14 weeks in 1996. This is the Warner Bros label's first #1 since Jason Derulo's "Whatcha Say", a debut on November 14, 2009. The song beats Bruno Mars' "Locked Out Of Heaven" by 9,000 overall chart points, gaining 22% in points while "Locked" drops 6%

The rest of the top five sees the dethroned Bruno Mars' "Locked Out of Heaven", The Lumineers' "Ho Hey". and Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble".

Justin Timberlake's lead single from The 20/20 Experience is Timberlake's 12th Hot 100 top ten and first since Ciara's "Love Sex Magic" (he was a guest) hit #10 in April 2009. It's his first as a lead artist since "Summer Love" hit #6 in June 2007. Timberlake now has twice as many Hot 100 top tens on his own as N'Sync, which had six between 1999 and 2002.
