Grammy Nominees Album To Debut In Top Ten On Billboard 200
Posted by Joseph Lee on 01.26.2013

Billboard reports that the Grammy Nominees compilation album is set to get the 12th top ten album for that series on the Billboard 200 next week with around 35,000 copies sold.

This is the 19th edition of the series and features 22 songs from the 2012 Grammy Award nominations. It includes all five songs nominated for song of the year and tracks from the five best new artist nominees. Last year's album debuted at #4 on the chart with 52,000 sold in its first week. It then had an even higher sales week of 84,000 after the ceremony on February 12. It's expected this year's set will get higher sales after the February 10 show.

Gary Allan is expected to take #1 on the chart with Set You Free selling around 95,000.

The other debut is another country album, Randy Houser's How Country Feels, which could end up in the top ten. The album, through Stoney Creek Records, may sell around 20,000, which would be a record-high sales week for Houser. He's never sold more than 9,000 copies of an album in a week. This follows two albums he released through Show Dog-Universal in 2008 and 2010. The title track was #1 on the Country Airplay chart, the first time he was on top after six previous songs.

Here's the top ten of the Building Chart with last week's rank in parenthesis.

1. Gary Allan - Set You Free (NEW)
2. Pitch Perfect soundtrack (#3)
3. A$AP Rocky - Long Live A$AP (#1)
4. The Lumineers - The Lumineers (#7)
5. 2013 Grammy Nominees (#5)
6. Kidz Bop 23 (#2)
7. Bruno Mars - Unorthodox Jukebox (#5)
8. Taylor Swift - Red (#4)
9. Randy Houser - How Country Feels (NEW)
10. Les Miserables soundtrack (#6)

It should be noted the Building Chart reflects the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (which ends Sunday) as reported by six major merchants: iTunes, Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Starbucks, Target and Anderson Merchandisers. Billboard estimates that they make up about 85% of all U.S. album sales.
