Nelly Back On Radio With "Hey Porsche"
Posted by Joseph Lee on 01.29.2013

Billboard reports that Nelly's new single is climbing up the Pop Songs chart with his new single "Hey Porsche" at #36.

It's his first song on the chart since "Just a Dream", which was his fifth #1 in November 2010 in that format. "Porsche" is from his upcoming seventh album M.O..

Nelly first arrived with his song "(Hot S**t) Country Grammar", which was #9 on the Pop Songs in 2000. His sound has went more pop since, including 2004's "Over and Over", which featured Tim McGraw (spent 11 weeks on top of the chart), and "Dream".

Rich Davis, PD of KDWB Minneapolis, said the song is "definitely more of a pop song than a rap song, with a great groove and a great hook." KDWB has had 131 spins through January 28. He added: "I think even early on, Nelly did a good job of straddling the line between pop and rap. I'm sure artists can tell by their bank accounts which hits are the most mass-appeal. Nelly, with all his years in the biz, has certainly figured that out."

WXKB Ft. Myers, Florida PD/musical director Adam Star added: "What's great about Nelly is that he's so versatile and knows how to adapt and still be relevant. We're only of a couple of weeks in on 'Hey Porsche' but early listener response has been nothing but positive."

The song isn't available for download yet, but a digital release is planned through Republic Records.
