Metallica's Album Sales Drop After Spotify Deal

Maybe they were right...
NME reports that Metallica's album sales have fallen since their back catalog was made available was made available on Spotify.
Billboard published figures from Christmas 2008 through 2012. Album sales for Metallica fell 15% in the week after December 6 when Metallica's music was made available for streaming, then 35% the following week.
Cliff Burnstein of Q Prime, who manages Metallica, told The New York Times: "There is a point at which there could be 100 per cent cannibalization, and we would make more money through subscription services. We calculate that point at approximately 20 million worldwide subscribers."
