Just to prove that she can...
Beyonce busted out the National Anthem on TV today, just to prove that she could do it. TMZ reports that the R&B star admitted during a news conference for the Super Bowl that she did lip synch during the presidential inauguration, saying "I am a perfectionist ... I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra [at the Inauguration]. It was a live television show and a very important moment for me...Due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking the risk … so I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track, which is very common in the music industry. And I'm very proud of my performance."
When asked whether she would sing live at the Super Bowl, she said, "I always sing live" but did not say whether she would use a backing track as she did at the inauguration. You can see her performance from today below:
