Frank Ocean Says Grammy Weekend Makes Him Nervous
Posted by Joseph Lee on 02.09.2013

Billboard reports that Frank Ocean performed a short set lat night at Levi's 501 140 Year Anniversary Pre-Grammy Party at the Ace Museum in Los Angeles. His set focused mainly on his album Channel Orange and consisted of six songs. It followed a DJ set from M83's Anthony Gonzalez.

The party included names like Busy Phillipps, Alan Cummings, Ashley Benson and Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda. Gonzalez' DJ tracks included artists like Britney Spears, R. Kelly and M.I.A. Ocean began at 11:30 PM with his band.

He told the crowd: "So it's officially Grammy weekend, which is probably not a big deal for everyone. But it makes me nervous as f---."

He then played "Sierra Leone" and "Thinkin' Bout You". Next was "American Wedding", from Ocean's 2011 debut Ultra. The last three tracks were "Crack Rock", "Monks" and a longer version of "Pyramids". He said halfway through the concert: "Thanks guys. Big f---ing thanks."

He is nominated for six awards tomorrow. Four are for Channel Orange: Best New Artist, Record of the Year (for "Thinkin' Bout You"), Album of the Year and Best Urban Contemporary Album. The other two are for his work with Kanye West and Jay-Z on "No Church in the Wild". Ocean will also perform at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night.
