[VIDEO] Jennifer Hudson, Usher, and More Impress at Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Show
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 02.10.2013

Billboard reports that this year's Pre-Grammy Gala ran long and was highlighted by some impressive performances by the likes of Patti Smith, the Lumineers, Usher, Miguel, Emeli Sande and capped by a duet featuring Jennifer Hudson and the legendary Gladys Knight.

Academy president/CEO Neil Portnow opened the night with a short video clip featuring Clive Davis presented the first Billboard Musical Visionary Award in the inaugural Power 100 reception on Wednesday evening. Clive Davis started off the proceedings with EDM guru Afrojack.

The show featured performances from Patti Smith, Emeli Sande, and Grammy nominees the Lumineers and Miguel. Davis also introduced a clip of Whitney Houston singing "All the Man That I Need" in rememberance of the upcoming one year anniversary of her passing.

Usher later sang snippets of his own songs. He then along with Portnow presented the President's Merit Award to Antonio Reid.

Jennifer Hudson performed two-songs in a tribute to Gladys Knight. Hudson was later joined by Knight for a duet of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine." Knight then took the stage herself for her songs, "Neither One of Us," and "Midnight Train to Georgia."
