Prince Charging Price to See New Music Video

Would you pay almost two bucks to watch it?
Prince is charging fans to see his latest music video. The video, for his new song "Screwdriver," popped up today on the pop icon's website with a cost to download it of $1.77. It makes Prince the first artist to force fans to pay in order to see the video; other musicians charge to download the video via iTunes and other sources but they also typically make the videos available via VEVO and/or YouTube.
Fans of Prince are reacting negatively to the news; most Twitter responses went along the following lines:
So um… Prince updated his website finally and is charging $1.77 to watch his 8 min music video. Uhh, yeah, I'll pass.
A spokesperson for Prince has yet to respond to requests for comment.
