Police Chief In Chris Brown Probation Case Resigns

TMZ reports that the police chief who signed off on Chris Brown's community service has resigned.

Bryan Norwood, Police Chief in Richmond, Virginia, was involved in certifying Brown's community service hours, which the Los Angeles County District Attorney says were never performed. Norwood removed Brown's case from the Richmond Probation Department so that he could take care of it. He also wrote a letter to the court giving his approval of Brown and claiming the community service was taken care of.

The Mayor of Richmond says his office and Norwood reached a "mutual agreement" for his resignation. There had been speculation that Norwood might have resigned to get a similar job in Raleigh, North Carolina, but the Brown scandal may have made him quit earlier than planned.

The judge in Brown's Rihanna-beating case wants him to verify his hours and if he can't, his probation could be violated.
