Josh Groban Gets Third #1 On BIllboard 200
Posted by Joseph Lee on 02.13.2013

Josh Groban has earned his third #1 album on the Billboard 200 with All That Echoes selling 145,000 copies. It follows 2003's Closer and 2007's Noel. His last album, 2010's Illuminations, debuted and peaked at #4 with 191,000 copies.

Groban is one of the few artists in the past year to get a #1 album without a top 40 single on the Billboard Hot 100. The others are Chris Tomlin, tobyMac and Jack White. Groban has 17 entries on the Adult Contemporary chart but only got on the Hot 100 four times. His highest-charting song is 2008's "The Prayer", a live duet with Celine Dion, which hit #70. Groban hasn't needed top 40 hit singles to help his music sales as he relies on TV performances and other means. He has sold 21.7 million albums in the US, one of the biggest selling male pop vocalists.

Tim McGraw's Two Lanes of Freedom takes #2 this week with 107,000 copies. It is his fifteenth top ten album. He's on the Country Albums chart at #1, his 14th on top. Another debut, Now 45, comes in at #3 with 87,000. The last set, Now 44, debuted at #2 in November with 99,000. All of the regular Now albums have hit the top ten, and all but the first one debuted in the top ten.

The next debut is Red, who debut at #7 with Release the Panic selling 41,000 copies. This is the second top ten for the band after 2011's Until We Have Faces came in at #2 in 2011 with 43,000.

The final debut in the top ten is Coheed and Cambria's The Afterman: Descension. It comes in at #9 with almost 41,000 sold. This comes after The Afterman: Ascension, which debuted and peaked at #5 in October with 49,000. It is the band's fifth top ten.

The Grammys helped several artists on the chart this week, including The Lumineers, Bruno Mars and Mumford & Sons. The acts either performed, won an award or were nominated on the broadcast.

1. Josh Groban - All That Echoes (145,000)
2. Tim McGraw - Two Lanes of Freedom (107,000)
3. Now 45 (99,000)
4. Mumford & Sons - Babel (54,000)
5. Andrea Bocelli - Passione (51,000)
6. Justin Bieber - Believe Acoustic (43,000)
7. Red - Release the Panic (41,000)
8. Bruno Mars - Unorthdox Jukebox (41,000)
9. Coheed and Cambria - Afterman: The Descension (almost 41,000)
10. The Lumineers - The Lumineers (39,000)

Album sales this week totaled 5.81 million, up 11% compared to last week (5.25) and down 15% compared to last year (6.83 million). Year to date album sales stand at 32.30 million, down 5% compared to the same total at this point last year (33.99 million).
