Lil Jon Joins Zumba Fitness With New Single
Posted by Joseph Lee on 02.20.2013

Following in the footsteps of Don Omar and Pitbull, Billboard reports that Lil Jon has joined Zumba Fitness with a new single and a nightclub series that begins in April.

The new song is called "Work" and will be released on iTunes next month. He recently performed it at the Zumba instructor conference in Los Angeles during a fitness concert with Pitbull and Beto Perez, co-founder of Zumba.

Perez said: "Major names in music recognize that it's good business to be with Zumba. These artists are talented, write catchy music and they get people hooked."

Zumba works with major music producers and more mainstream artists are starting to get involved. Zumba reaches 14 million people in 152 countries.

Lil Jon added: "Zumba is world-wide, respected and it's about health. It's something that you really didn't expect from me. People have been blown away to find out that Zumba and I have partnered up."

Lil Jon says that at the age of 41 he takes his health more seriously than ever. The new song "Work" (influenced by African, Brazilian and Latin) tell people what to do. It appears to be a hit based on crowd reaction.

Perez added that the music makes the classes successful. Omar's "Zumba" hit #1 on Latin Airplay this week and Pitbull's "Pause" (Zumba Mix) sold over 70,000 copies. The nightclub series goes on sale on February 22 and features Lil Jon and celebrity fitness instructor Gina Grant. The experiment will "test the waters" for featuring a big name artist. It takes place at four nightclubs on April 9-11 and 13 in Boston, Pittsburgh, Queens, and Cincinnati.

At a recent fitness conference in Los Angeles, Sony US Latin President Ruben Leyva was seen watching the concert with Lil Jon and Pitbull. He said: "It's amazing the impact that Zumba is having on a global level. And it's keeps spreading internationally. I'm going to have to try it soon."
