M.I.A. Claims the Grammys Stole From Her
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 02.20.2013

Musical artist M.I.A. expressed on her Tumblr account this week, "If you want to see the real thing or get it first, come to a M.I.A. show." This is in reference to her belief that the Grammys show allegedly stole from her laser-heavy performance concept from a January concert in Australia for their tribute to Bob Marley.

M.I.A. has stated she will have be "keeping a steal log" on her Tumblr account to document ways she's been allegedly ripped off. The segment in question at the Grammys was a tribute to Marley with Bruno Mars, Sting, Rihanna, and Ziggy and Damian Marley and an illuminated backdrop with neon lights. M.I.A. compared images of her own show and the Grammy performance and wrote: "My ideas came from my life. My set was based on Tamil Hindu temple. Not Bob Marley."

M.I.A. had received a Grammy nomination for the best short form music video, but she lost to Rihanna's "We Found Love."
