They didn't care about being popular...
Billboard has posted a clip of the documentary Beware of Mr. Baker, which focuses on Ginger Baker, who was in two bands with Eric Clapton: Cream and Blind Faith. Clapton says that the bands were formed thanks to "being guided by the same star."
He said: "We didn't know how to verbalize it. We didn't give a shit about being popular. We didn't have time for it. We were compelled by what we felt musically. I wanted to play every day in a way that would move me. And I wanted to be with musicians that had that kind of motivation."
The documentary looks at the drummer's musical discoveries in Nigeria and his life after the 1960s. It's out now. It won the Documentary Grand Jury Prize at the 2012 SXSW film festival.
