Scott Weiland Says Stone Temple Pilots Lied About Firing Him

Scott Weiland claims that the rest of Stone Temple Pilots lied when they announced he was fired in order to sell tickets for their upcoming tour. Weiland told TMZ that he was "fired" to boost ticket sales for a tour they were organizing without him.

Weiland noted that there is a clause in the band's contract that forbids the band members from using the name for another group, so if he's out of the group then they aren't STP anymore. He added, "STP is not broken up. It's a whole thing to try to boost ticket sales."

When asked if he was still leading the band, he answered, "I started it."
