A big week for Bryan
Billboard reports that Luke Bryan is headed for the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart with his Spring Break...Here to Party compilation album.
Label sources estimate his new album may sell a bit over 100,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, March 10. The new Billboard 200 top 10 chard will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, March 13.
Bryan's new set is mostly a compilation of tracks previously released on his four earlier Spring Break-themed EP's, all of which were only available as digital releases that came out between 2009 and 2012. The EP's have sold a combined 145,000 according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The new Spring Break...Here to Party album is both available as a download and a physical CD unlike Bryan's four previous EP's. Two of the 14 cuts are newly recorded songs specifically for the album.
Bryan is currently on tour and working on recording his fourth studio album. It will be a follow-up to 2011's Tailgates & Tanlines. The set debuted and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 and was the 8th biggest selling album of 2012 overall according to SoundScan. It moved over 1.1 million units last year.
Jimi Hendrix's People, Hell and Angels is also expected to debut on the top 10 next week. The set features 12 previously unreleased studio recordings that Hendrix completed between 1968 and 1970. Hendrix passed away on September 18, 1970.
