Six to 23 months of hard time...
Philly.com reports that Beanie Sigel was sentenced yesterday in Delaware County court 6-23 months on drug charges from an arrest in August.
Sigel (real name Dwight Grant) is in federal custody serving two years for failure to pay $348,000 in taxes. On August 29, he and a friend were arrested by state police after a traffic stop on I-95 in Tinicum Township. The driver, Gerald Andrews, was pulled over for following another car too closely and swerving out of his lane.
Andrews was found to be in possession of several prescription pills and a small amount of marijuana. Sigel was asleep when police pulled the car over, but was in possession of an unlabeled bottle of codeine syrup and $4,650 in cash. A loaded gun was found hidden in the car's center console. The two were charged with gun and drug offenses.
Sigel pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance to Judge Michael F.X. Coll. The gun charges were dismissed. Andrews pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm and was sentenced to two and a half to five years in state prison.
Sigel's arrest came after he released his latest album and two weeks before he was set to report to federal prison on the tax evasion charges.
