Kasabian Guitarist Quits Band To Join Beady Eye
Posted by Joseph Lee on 03.08.2013

NME reports that Kasabian guitarist Jay Mehler has left the band to join Beady Eye.

Mehler joined the band in 2006 during the recording of their second album Empire, after original guitarist Christopher Karloff left. He will join Liam Gallgher's band before the release of their second album after touring musician Jeff Wooton left for other projects. Mehler did not perform with Kasabian at the Comic Relief concert arranged by Russell Brand earlier this week.

Kasabian wrote a statement on their Facebook which reads: "Jay is our bro we're all good and the last six years have been mega. He's moving on and will be incredible in Beady Eye. We thought posting an awesome video was the best way to let you guys know that he will be missed, but here it is in black and white too."

Beady Eye are currently working on their second album with producer Dave Sitek. They will release a new single in April. Kasabian, meanwhile, will headline Hard Rock Calling in June in the new venue of London's Olympic Park. The lineup also includes Paul Weller, Miles Kane, Kodaline, The Cribs, Klaxons and Tribes.
