Bowie looks for his first No. 1 album...
Billboard reports that David Bowie and Bon Jovi are likely to dominate the Billboard 200 chart next week. The new top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, March 20.
Bowie looks for his first number one album with his new release The Next Day which was released on March 12. The album is on course to sell 90,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, March 17. This is Bowie's first studio album since Reality in 2003. This will mark his first top 10 album since his 1983 blockbuster Let's Dance peaked at No. 4. Bowie has never actually released a No. 1 album in his career out of 39 charting sets going back to his debut album Hunky Dory in 1972. His highest-charting album is 1976's Station to Station which peaked at No. 3.
Bon Jovi released their new What About Now this week as well. The album is expected to sell around 90,000 copies or so this week. If it edges out Bowie, it would be Bon Jovi's fifth No. 1 album.
