The Purple One performs his hits...
Prince rocked the stage at the SXSW closing party in Austin last night. NME reports that the pop icon performed with the backing of a twenty-one piece band and performed many of his hits including "Purple Rain," "1999" and "Housequake," plus covers of Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough," Janet Jackson's "What Have You Done For Me Lately?" and Curtis Mayfield's "We're A Winner."
Prince said during the show, "I love being a musician. I feel like a servant... a servant to you" and asked a fan to stop filming the show via her camera phone. He appeared to close out the show saying, "Goodnight, Austin. Don't make me hurt you. Do you know how many hits I have?" before returning for what ended up being six encores that lasted longer than the actual main set.
