They played it at SXSW...
NME reports that The Flaming Lips are streaming a special live version of their upcoming album The Terror online. They played the entire album live at last week's South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. They also played nearly the entire album of 2002's Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.
Wayne Coyne was also spotted at Justin Timberlake's Myspace Secret Show. He said: "[Justin and I are] on a different trip but he put on a great show."
The Terror will be released on April 2 through Bella Union.
Coyne said of the album: "When we were making ‘The Soft Bulletin' we didn't think about making it, we just followed a sound. That really means rejecting all these other sounds. You might not know what you like, but you know what you hate. I think ‘The Terror', in a sense, is the same thing. I don't think people will look at like ‘The Soft Bulletin', with whatever that means to people, but I think for us it feels like we've self-destructed again, not in the same way but with the same intensity. The minute we said: ‘This is how we're gonna be as a band forever', absolutely the next second we were completely different and utterly changed. I think we're onto probably the third phase, the third version, of The Flaming Lips."
The band are set to play the London Roundhouse in the UK on May 20 and 21 to celebrate the album's release.
