Emeli Sande Surpasses The Beatles' UK Chart Record
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 04.28.2013

The Official Charts Company reports that Emeli Sande has beaten The Beatles UK chart record for the most consecutive weeks in the Top 10 for any album.

Sande's debut album Our version of Events has not dropped outside the Official UK Album Chart Top 10 since it was released in February of last year, totaling 63 weeks. Sande now overtakes The Beatles who remained in the Top 10 for 62 weeks with Please Please Me between 1963 and 1964.

Regarding the achievement, Sande stated: "I'm completely lost for words and this is something I could only have dreamed of. The Beatles are the greatest band of all time and their legacy lives on and continues to inspire all of us that make music. I'm so happy that so many people have connected with the stories and the songs on the record, this really is our version of events now."

Sande's album is currently No. 5 in the Official Album Chart. The album has sold over 1.82 million copies in the UK and has spent 10 weeks in total at No. 1. The album was the biggest-selling record of 2012 and is on course to emulate that success again this year.
