Simon Cowell Wants Cheryl Cole Back on the US X Factor Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 05.02.2013
He wants to invite her back after she was dumped in season one...
Simon Cowell reportedly wants to bring Cheryl Cole back to the US version of The X Factor. If you will recall, the US version of the singing reality competition got off to a very rough start as Cole was initially set as a judge but got fired before the first episodes aired because FOX was concerned about people being able to understand her, coupled with her lack of star power. However, it would appear that the revolving door of stars like Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and Britney Spears has Cowell reaching out to his former friend and patch things up in the hopes of a reunion.
The Mirror reports that the two have met a few times at Cowell's LA home and that a job on tje judging panel has been discussed. A source said, "Simon would love to have Cheryl back. They're chatting more and more at the moment and he's hopeful she might be up for coming back. She's still spending a lot of time in the States and wants to move out there so it'd looking more likely to be on the cards."
Cole was asked about her relationship with Cowell last week and she joked that he still had "some making up to do" after they fell out; Cole had already spent a huge amount of money to move to Los Angeles before she was dumped. For his part, Cowell has been very complimentary of Cole in recent weeks and said in an interview last month, "When she walked on set on the first day in the UK I thought that she was one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen in my life. She was just absolutely stunning."
It is worth noting, however, that Cole is in the middle of a lawsuit with Blue Orbit who produces the show. Cole sued for over $2 million in alleged unpaid earnings from the show due to a financial commitment to her for the second season. The only people coming back on the judges panel from season two are Cowell and Demi Lovato, leaving two open seats for the second year in a row.
