The Pixies Announces New Bassist And New Tour
Posted by Joseph Lee on 07.01.2013

Billboard reports that the Pixies have announced the first part of a world tour, which begins on September 29 in Paris. This comes after the band released a new song called "Bagboy", their first new material since 2004.

They've also announced their new bassist, named Kim Shattuck. Kim Deal, the group's co-founder, left the band last month. Shattuck previously played bass for Los Angeles punk girl group The Pandoras in the 1980s and then The Muffs, which she founded. The new lineup have been in their Los Angeles rehearsal space working on new and old material. The band will debut several songs during the tour and play more obscure tracks that they haven't played live before.

Singer Black Francis said: "Along with everyone's favorites, we'll be playing songs that we haven't played in ages or never played live before. Songs like 'Brick is Red,' 'Havalina,' 'Tony's Theme.' and 'Sad Punk.' We've probably rehearsed some 80 songs, so we'll be able to change up the set at the last minute if we feel like it. We're all really looking forward to this tour."
