She doesn't pay attention to the negative...
In an interview clip sent to MTV, Miley Cyrus spoke about her performance at the Video Music Awards last Sunday.
Ever since the performance at the awards ceremony, it has been the talk of the pop world. Comments both positive and negative have called it "hyper-sexualized," "the nadir of American Civilization," "an exaggerated spectacle meant to subvert pop-culture sexism," and more.
It has also been compared to previous VMA performances like Madonna's "Like A Virgin" and Britney Spears' "Oops...I Did It Again".
Cyrus has said that she feels great about her performance.
She said: "I don't pay attention to the negative because I've seen this play out so many times. How many times have we seen this play out in pop music? Madonna's done it. Britney's done it. Every VMA performance, that's what you're looking for; you're wanting to make history. Me and Robin [Thicke,] the whole time said, 'You know we're about to make history right now.' What's amazing is I think now, we're three days later and people are still talking about it. They're over thinking it. You're thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like, I didn't even think about it 'cause that's just me."
