A nice wedding gift...
Cleveland.com reports that The Beach Boys invited new bride Jaime Diadiun on stage after they accidentally interrupted her wedding vows to Mark Kent on August 4. The two were already getting married with noises of a train and helicopter in the background. The Beach Boys, who were playing next door at the outdoor Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica, started their sound check in the middle of the ceremony, with a few bars of "God Only Knows (What I'd Be Without You)" playing.
She said: "It was awesome and perfectly timed. "God Only Knows" will likely be our official song now."
When the band learned that their sound check interrupted things, security guards told the wedding guests during an apology that the gate to the Nautica Stage would be free for them. The father of the bride, Ted Diadiun, came over for a song or two. Jaime only made it over after the reception was over and the concert was wrapping up. That was when she and her two aunts were taken to the front row and Bruce Johnston (the band's guitarist) gave her a guitar pick. As she started to leave following the end of the song, the stage manager stopped her and brought her onstage for an encore. While in her wedding gown, she played tambourine on stage next to Mike Love as he sang "Fun, Fun, Fun."
She added: "I thought about trying to sing along in the mic, but it was best for everyone that I stuck to the tambourine."
Her father only saw what happened from far away, as he heard she was on stage and ran to a window to look. He added: "I first saw the Beach Boys at Euclid Beach Park in 1964, but Mike Love didn't ask me up on stage to dance with him."
At the time, the groom was saying goodbye to guests as one of the groomsmen had a rap battle with a stranger.
