AM on pace to outsell Random Access Memories…
The Official Charts Company (via NME) reports that Arctic Monkeys could be on course to surpass Daft Punk for the title of fastest selling album of 2013.
The band's new album, AM, has currently sold over 97,000 copies so far this week since the set's release on Monday (September 9). If the sales continue at this rate, the album could overtake Random Access Memories by Daft Punk. Daft Punk's release currently holds the record for the fastest selling album of 2013 after selling 165,000 copies in its first week of sales.
On the UK's Official Singles Chart, Katy Perry is set to stay in the top spot for a second week with "Roar." Ellie Goulding is at No. 2 with "Burn." Avicii is at No. 3 with "Wake Me Up." Coldplay entered the chart at No. 7 for this week with their new single, "Atlas," from the soundtrack of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Arcade Fire's new comeback single, "Reflektor," featuring David Bowie is now sitting at No. 48.
