Perry tops the list for the second time…
Billboard reports that Katy Perry hit the top of the Billboard Social 50 chart following the music video release for her song, "Prism," and the release of her new single, "Roar."
Perry jumps from 6-1 after adding 947,000 new fans overall (a 2% increase). Her VEVO channel had a 440% increase in weekly views, bringing her global play count to 108 million for the week. This is Perry's second week at No. 1, and the first in more than a year. She last topped the list in July 2012.
Lil Wayne also surged up on the Social 50 chart. He broke the top five, going up from 29-5, after a large amount of online activity surrounding two releases: the Rich Gang "We Been On" VEVO music video where he is featured, and the fifth installment of his Dedication mixtape series. "We Been On" helped drive an increase in traffic of over 580% for other videos on Lil Wayne's channel. Wayne's channel received 118 global million views for the week. The Dedication 5 mixtape has been downloaded 858,000 times via the mixtape sharing site datpiff.com, becoming one of the site's top downloads for the week. Lil Wayne overall received 252,000 new fans to his overall fanbase.
Eminem went up from 10-3 surrounding online activity regarding the release of his new single, "Berzerk." The lyric video for the song recently debuted on September 6. Eminem appeared on ESPN's broadcast of the Notre Dame-Michigan college football game and awkwardly promoted his upcoming album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 and gave praise to announcer Brent Musburger. Eminem added 662,000 new followers to his overall fan base, a 44% increase from last week.
Rounding out the top 10: One Direction went down to No. 2; Taylor Swift goes down from 4-5; Justin Timberlake falls from 3-6; Miley Cyrus goes from 2-8; Ariana Grande goes up from 11-7; Rihanna goes back up from 18-9; and Shakira dips down to No. 10.
