Some "feminist vibes" coming on...
In an interview with Hello magazine (via NME), Lily Allen says her new album has some "feminist vibes coming on". She previously hinted that it would be released next year and confirmed her return to music with the launch of a new website last month. She also said that she will use her maiden name of Album, even though in August 2012 she was changing her professional name to Lily Rose Cooper.
She said: "It's not an earnest 'I'm a mum' kind of record. It's empowering. There's some feminist vibes going on. It's the same old me with a bit of swearing going on. Good choruses, key changes here and there – that's it!"
She also said she was nervous about returning to the spotlight. She added: "I'm really nervous because I haven't been on stage for a really long time. I'm actually really scared. The music thing is great – creating is what I do. But being catapulted back into the limelight is something I'm anxious about, mainly because I've got two children now. It's not just me – I've got family to think about."
She previously said that the album was "shaping up pretty well" and said it will feature songs "about babies and nappies". She gave birth to her second child Marnie on January 8. Her most recent song was an appearance on Pink's "True Love", which peaked at #16 on the UK Singles Chart. Allen makes a cameo in the music video as well.
