Matt Helders of Arctic Monkeys Broke His Hand Punching the Wall

He was drunk at the time...
In an interview with Q magazine (via NME), Matt Helders, drummer for the Arctic Monkeys, revealed he broke his hand punching a wall while drunk. The band had to use Elvis Costello drummer Pete Thomas for their new album while he recovered. He was fitted with a metal plate for his hand.
He said: "It wasn't a fist fight with a person, no. I didn't hurt anybody, except for myself. It was... a bizarre incident... with a wall... that was harder than I expected... The next day I did (feel like a fool)... It was just me being stupid. I weren't even that angry, cos I'm not an angry person. I was just messing about, drunk. Everyone I've told said, 'We've all done it.' I just managed to hit the wrong wall. The bone popped out - not out of the skin but it was stuck up. I went to my girlfriend, 'I think we need to go to hospital.' They put a plate in it. I'm having it taken out at Christmas."
