Bob Marley Makes Huge Surge This Week on Billboard Social 50 Chart

Billboard reports that Bob Marley has placed into the top 10 of the Billboard Social 50 chart for the third time, making No. 8 on the list.
Marley has placed on the list for 88 weeks. He's now reached a new peak on the chart rising from 37-8. Marley now has the second-largest social media presence for a dead artist (second only to Michael Jackson). Conversation on Marley rose by 34% on Facebook. The chatter included the 33rd anniversary of his last recording session with his band the Wailers, his final appearance in New York (where he played Madison square Garden on a bill with the Commodores), and his last televised interview. Marley's fan acquisition on Facebook raised by 137%, resulting in over 564,000 new fans for Marley on the platform.
The X Factor judge Kelly Rowland made her debut on the Social 50 at No. 38 following the September 19 debut of the third season. Rowland also appeared at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on September 20. She added 259,000 fans overall during the charting week.
Avicii went up from 26-17 on the chart in conjunction with his new album, True. Avicii received a 27% increase in plays to his songs across VEVO and YouTube. The songs had an increase from 23 million total plays last week to just over 30 million.
Rounding out the top 10: Miley Cyrus placed No. 1 for the second week in a row; Justin Timberlake went up from 4-2; Justin Bieber went up from 5-4; One Direction went down from 3-5; Taylor Swift stayed at No. 6; Britney Spears went up to No. 7; Rihanna moves up from 12-9; and Beyonce went up from 11-10 to anchor the top 10.
