Already on track to debut big...
Billboard reports that Justin Timberlake is set to get #1 on the Billboard next week, even before this week's chart has been revealed. Drake is expected to take #1 on this week's set. The new albums were released on Monday instead of Tuesday, providing an early look at what could make the top ten. Timberlake's album, The 20/20 Experience - 2 of 2 is expected to sell around 325,000 copies.
This would give Timberlake two #1 albums this year after The 20/20 Experience. The new album features the lead single "Take Back the Night", which hit #29 on the Billboard Hot 100. "TKO' debuted at #54.
As for why the major albums were released on Monday, Timberlake's people announced the date in May, as it's the last day of eligibility for the Grammy Awards. Other albums that had been set for October 1 then moved their release dates back one day.
Lorde is expected to get #2 next week with Pure Heroine selling between 115,000 and 125,000. "Royals" was #1 for seven weeks on the Alternative airplay chart before dropping one spot this week. On the Mainstream Top 40 (Pop Songs) chart, it is at #5 for the second week in a row, but is up 24% in airplay. It is also #3 on the Hot 100.
Timberlake and Lorde will be the only new releases selling over 50,000 this week. Other albums debuting next week include HAIM's Days Are Gone (maybe 20,000), Tyler Farr's Redneck Crazy (15,000) and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts' Unvarnished (10,000).
