He didn't want to hurt the rock legend...
I know one guy whose Secret Santa list I don't want to be on. TMZ reports that Joseph Callahan, the man who planned to give a huge explosive to Keith Richards, says that the bomb was intended to be a gift.
Callahan's lawyer spoke with the site and explained the sixty-nine year-old's reasoning, saying, "A friend of Mr. Callahan nine years ago met Keith Richards and he (Callahan) knew Keith Richards liked pyrotechnics, so he built this device in the event he met Keith Richards."
That device, for the record, was around 100 pounds of ammonium nitrate put together in an explosive. Police found it when they raided Callahan's Connecticut home and found it amongst a heft arsenal of guns and other explosives. He was arraigned today on 112 counts of illegal possession of explosives, reckless endangerment, and manufacture of bombs, with the case being continued to next month. He is expected to plead not guilty.
