Their new album Lightning Bolt is doing well…
Billboard reports that Pearl Jam is set to get their fifth No. 1 album for next week's Billboard 200 chart.
Industry sources believe their new album, Lightning Bolt, will sell around 170,000 to 180,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, October 20. The new chart top 10 will be released on Wednesday, October 23.
The current No. 1 album, Miley Cyrus' Bangerz, is estimated to have a 68%-80% sales drop in its second week and will sell around 55,000 to 86,000 copies. So Cyrus' album will not be a threat to Pearl Jam taking the top spot.
Pearl Jam's previous chart toppers include Backspacer (2009), No Code (1996), Vitalogy (1994), and Vs. (1993). Their last album and chart topper, Backspacer, debuted with 189,000 copies in its first week.
Set to open at No. 2 next week is Paul McCartney with his new set, entitled New. The release is expected to sell around 70,000 copies. This would be McCartney's highest-charting studio album since 1997's Flaming Pie, which also debuted and peaked at No. 2.
Other acts set for significant debuts on the top 10: Avett Brothers' Magpie and the Dandelion with about 60,000 copies and Scotty McCreery's See You Tonight with 40,000 copies.
