Ke$ha was worried she'd be imprisoned...
AFP reports that Ke$ha has been forced to cancel a concert in Kuala Lumpur set for October 26 because Malaysian authorities refused to grant her permission to perform.
Ke$ha's application to play live was rejected because her stage show reportedly "touches on religious sensitivities and cultural values of Malaysia," Malaysia's Ministry of Communications and Multimedia said in a statement. The country has a population that is 60% Muslim, making many topics of Ke$ha's music to be incredibly taboo for followers of the religion.
Concert promoters Livescape also released their own statement, saying the concert was banned "at the 11th hour," despite an offer by Ke$ha to "modify the show to suit the Malaysian culture and sensitivities." Ke$ha was said to be willing to change the lyrics to her songs and have her stage outfits altered in order to make the show happen.
Ke$ha posted a message on her Twitter account saying she could've been arrested if she tried to perform. You can check out the tweet below.
to be clear. I did NOT cancel. I was not allowed to play. and then I was going to play anyways and was threatened with imprisonment.
