But went with AM instead...
NME reports that Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys revealed that their band almost called their new album The New Black, but settled on AM instead. The album was voted as the best album of 2013 by NME. The New Black wold have been named after a guitar amp the band were using while recording.
He said: "I got this old Rickenbacker thing that we recorded a lot through. There's no knobs, just two holes. And this little black amp that became known as The New Black. Crossed me mind to call the album that. "
The album, the band's fifth, was released in September. It includes the singles 'Do I Wanna Know', 'R U Mine?' and 'Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?'. The album was voted ahead of Kanye West's Yeezus and Queens of the Stone Age's Like Clockwork in the poll.
