Earth Wind & Fire Bassist Says Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' Doesn't Sound Like Marvin Gaye’s ‘Got to Give It Up’
Posted by Larry Csonka on 12.07.2013

Since October, Robin Thicke and the estate of Marvin Gaye have been battling over claims that Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' copied as many as four songs from Gaye. Gaye's estate contends that Thicke has a "Marvin Gaye Fixation" that is apparent in much of his music. Earth Wind & Fire bassist Verdine White, who was a contemporary of Marvin Gaye, says he doesn't think Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' borrows from Gaye's music, specifically ‘Got to Give It Up'. White had the following to say about the controversy…

"If you listen to it, it's in a totally different key. I think the fact that the public liked it a lot it maybe started a little controversy but it went away as fast as it came."
