Kanye West Slams Spoof Story Claiming He Called Himself 'The Next Nelson Mandela'

Spoof stories going viral and being reported as true are nothing new. The phenomenon has been happening for quite some time thanks to the prevalence of sites following in the footsteps of The Onion. Rare are the situations where a celebrity has to come out and publicly shoot down those stories, but you can count Kanye West among those instances. After the satirical news site The Daily Currant published a story claiming that West had declared himself "next Nelson Mandela" after the anti-Apartheid crusader's passing last week, the story went viral and Kanye had to speak out as it was getting picked up by actual news sites.
