Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Get #1 On Year-End Billboard Hot 100
Posted by Joseph Lee on 12.13.2013

Billboard reports that Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have topped the year-end Hot 100 Songs chart, while Bruno Mars is on top of the Hot 100 Artists chart.

For Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, their song "Thrift Shop" spent six weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 and was the third year-end #1 song in the past four years to be an act's chart debut after Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" (ft. Kimbra) last year and Kesha' "Tik Tok" in 2010. Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" was the leader in 2011 but that was her second chart entry after "Chasing Pavements". "Thrift Shop" is also the #1 song on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Rap Songs charts. Meanwhile, another song by the duo, "Can't Hold Us" (ft. Ray Dalton) is at #5. It's the fourth time an act has had two songs in the top five on a year-end chart. Katy Perry did it in 2009 with "Firework" (#3) and "E.T." (Ft. Kanye West, #4), as did the Black Eyed Peas with "Boom Boom Pow" (#1) and "I Gotta Feeling" (#4) and Lady Gaga with "Poker Face" (#2) and "Just Dance" (ft. Colby O'Donis, #3).

Bruno Mars's top spot on the Artists chart comes from his five songs that were on the Hot 100, with three in the top ten: "Locked Out Of Heaven" (six weeks at #1), "When I Was Your Man" (#1 for one week) and "Treasure" (#5). All three are on the top thirty of the year-end Hot 100 Songs.

Here are the top ten of the Hot 100 Songs:

1. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (ft. Wanz) - "Thrift Shop"
2. Robin Thicke (ft. T.I. and Pharrell) - "Blurred Lines"
