Lorde Working On New Material And Tour For 2014
Posted by Joseph Lee on 12.13.2013

Billboard reports that Lorde (real name Ella Maria Lania Yelich-O'Connor) is working on new material that she plans to record soon. There are also plans for a tour near her home, possibly around April.

During a trip to Sydney for the ARIA Awards, where she performed for the first time on Australian TV, she said: "I've been writing but I haven't really had time to hit the studio as of yet. That'll be the end of this year, or next year."

She is the first New Zealand solo artist to have a #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Royals" staying on top for over two months. She was also the first solo female to get one top of Billboard's Alternative Songs chart in over seventeen years. "Royals" led the official sales chart in over a dozen countries include Australia, where it is triple platinum. The song's album, Pure Heroine, also did very well on the charts. In her home country of New Zealand, she won five NZ Music Awards. She's also nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the Grammys.

When asked about touring Australia and New Zealand, she replied: "Yes, absolutely. Yeah, we've got lots of stuff being planned. We'll have to wait and see. Those (NZ dates) will be amazing."
