Coldplay spares no expense for their fans...
The Mirror reports that Coldplay reportedly spent £4.22 million (approx. $6.9 million) on the color-changing wristbands given out to fans for their Mylo Xyloto tour.
The wristbands change color in time with the music playing during Coldplay's concerts and cost the band £3 each. The group ended up spending over £4 million on the "Xylobands." The wristbands were made in Devon and contain light-emitting diodes that are controlled by software which tells them to light up, flash, and blink via a radio transmitter.
A source close to the group said on the wristbands and their recent tour expenses: "There may have been high costs involved but other bands should take a look at these accounts and take note. With this tour, Coldplay were determined to put their fans first and give something back. That meant no expense spared on set design, pyrotechnics, lighting as well as giving out the high-tech £3 wristbands, which became a massive part of the gigs. If fans are paying £50 for a ticket, they are entitled to a good show and a spectacle. It's no longer enough to jump around on stage, looking pretty."
The set costs for the tour reportedly went as high as £1.1 million.
