Def Leppard Guitarist Phil Collen Talks About The Band's Upcoming Las Vegas Residency
Posted by Joseph Lee on 12.18.2013

In an interview with Billboard, Def Leppard guitarist spoke about the band's upcoming 2014 residency in Las Vegas called "Viva Pyromania". The show will be similar to their "Viva Hysteria" residency at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Here are highlights:

On a new Vegas residency: "The Vegas thing was amazing. We're also going to be doing Viva Pyromania at some point at the end of next year."

On learning more about Hysteria while performing it in Vegas and Europe: "When we were rehearsing we realized how much went into that. It's a rich and expensive sounding record. It doesn't sound like it now, but it was very experimental. Guitar parts that you only did once, you had to revisit. And you have to get into it."

On Slang being an under-appreciated album: "You paint yourself into a corner with a certain writing style when you have a huge album. 'Slang' is very raw -- us playing live -- and everyone hated it. You learn from that. You don't want to cop out too much."
