Ryan Tedder Says He Knew When Beyonce's Album Would Drop
Posted by Joseph Lee on 12.19.2013

Billboard reports that Ryan Tedder, producer of Beyonce's new song "XO", knew when her self-titled album would be released, but only 90 minutes before it happened.

He said: "I knew 90 minutes before it dropped. Ninety minutes. And I said nothing because I love Beyonce and I don't want her to hate me. I heard a rumor and then I didn't say anything. I told my wife, `I think Beyonce's album is dropping in 90 minutes, and then I knew that `XO' was on the album. I knew it was a single. I didn't know if it was first or second. I didn't know anything, and then today I found out that it was the lead."

He made the comments at the season finale of The Voice, where his band OneRepublic performed. The album sold 617,000 copies in three days while being exclusively sold on iTunes. The album features collaborations with Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Miguel, Timbaland, Pharrell and Frank Ocean. Tedder previously produced her song "Halo", which won a Grammy. HE's also produced songs for Adele and Maroon 5.

He added that he was not surprised by her success after seeing a live show.

He said: "Me and my whole band, who are just complete skeptics and like, you know, a bit snobby, we just sat there going. Like somehow we have to step our game up and be more like Beyonce."
