Def Leppard Guitarists Denying Any Legal Action Over One Direction Due to Similar-Sounding Song
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 12.19.2013

Billboard reports that Def Leppard guitarists Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell are denying a report from the British tabloid Mirror UK that the group is looking into allegations that the One Direction song "Midnight Memories" resembles their track "Pour Some Sugar on Me."

The chorus of "Midnight Memories" from One Direction's album of the same name has a three-chord hook similar to the Def Leppard classic.

However, Collen and Campbell said they are not pursuing any legal action against One Direction. Collen said the songs were "very similar in structure" but nothing more.
