Even after Rod Stewart confirmed it...
Uncut (via NME) reports that Rod Stewart's former Faces bandmates have denied his claims that the band would reunite in 2015. Keyboardist Ian McLagen said that Stewart had not contacted him or drummer Kenney Jones about a reunion and if he did "they've bigger fish to fry". He said that he and Jones will instead focus on reuniting the Small Faces, which the Faces ended up becoming and didn't involve Stewart.
He said: "Why would we fuck around with the Faces when we've got bigger fish to fry?"
He added Stewart will "have to wait until 2016 because 2015 is the Small Faces' year."
Stewart previously told radio station WZLX in Boston that he and Ronnie Wood were planning a reunion for 2015. He said: "I think we have got much more of a chance of getting the Faces back together, in fact, Ronnie's office is talking to my people, and we're ear-marking 2015."
McLagen replied to this: "It's interesting that Rod announces these things without talking to me or Kenney."
The Faces originally reunited in 2010 with several shows that incuded Simply Red's Mick Hucknall on lead vocals instead of Stewart. The shows included a tour in 2011 as well as a headline performance at the Vintage at Goodwood Festival. In 2012, Hucknall sang "Stay With Me" at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio. Stewart planned to perform with the band but was ill with the flu. He last played with the Faces at the Brit Awards in 1993.
